About Magoo

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Adoption Fee: 500.00
  • Species: Dog
  • Current Age: 7 Years (best estimate)

Brief description:  Magoo  is a 2 year old male French Bulldog. He came to us as an emergency case after being dumped at a vet with a prolapsed rectum.  On 3/18/2020 Magoo received an MRI and was diagnosed with IVDD. He was taken into surgery that same day and will need six weeks to recover.

Likes:  Magoo  loves toys and people. He doesn’t meet a stranger. He will crawl up in anyone’s lap for the chance at some snuggles and pets.

Dislikes:  Magoo  does not like snow. You have to take him out to potty on a leash when it’s snowing or he will just sit in the porch.

Personality Magoo  is a playful guy. He loves toys and cuddles. He doesn’t seem to be super high energy but is quite the busy body.  Magoo  will happily lay on the couch with you or will play with toys all day. He’s such a happy dog!

Temperament:  Magoo  takes medications fine and doesn’t mind any touching. He thinks the more touching him the better. He hasn’t had a bath yet due to his numerous surgeries.

Energy level:  Magoo  seems to be in the middle. He’s happy cuddling but also very happy to play. When it’s bed time he has no issues going to sleep when you do.  Magoo  would do great with a few short walks per day. He would really enjoy a fenced in yard because he does get the zombies occasionally.

Favorite activitiesMagoo  would like a full time job in the cuddling department! It’s his favorite thing to do. He also LOVES toys and balls.

Good with cats, dogs, and kids over 6?:  Magoo  has had no issues with cats, dogs or children in the foster home.  Magoo  is a Frenchie though so he will not be placed with other same sex bully breed dogs. French Bulldogs tends to be the boss around the house so a home with a female dog or submissive male would be best.

Not good with Magoo  is good with everything!

Housetrained:  Yes.

Crate trained:  Yes.

Challenges: French bulldogs can be bossy. He should meet any dog companions slowly so he knows they aren’t going to hurt him.  Magoo  is a toy hoarder. You will need to have things picked up around the house so he doesn’t get into anything he shouldn’t.

Any Medical issues?  Magoo  arrived to us with a prolapsed rectum. He had emergency surgery to fix it and it is now fine. A week after that surgery  Magoo  was neutered, had 9 teeth pulled, nares surgery done to open his nose up and palate trimming to help his breathing. French Bulldogs are notorious for having health problems. They are a  brachycephalic breed so he could always be short of breath. He should not be out in the extreme heat or extreme cold. Precautions needs to be taken so he doesn’t overheat or over exert himself.
On 3/18/2020 Magoo received an MRI and was diagnosed with IVDD. He was taken into surgery that same day and will need six weeks to recover.
Due to his breed, potential adopters should be prepared for high expenses and continued medical concerns.

What would be the best kind of home?  Magoo  would be happy about anywhere as long as he gets plenty of attention. He loves his people fiercely. He would enjoy a female playmate I believe. He does fine on a leash but would enjoy a fenced in area to get his energy out.
